This year’s Wild West Solent Swim looks set to be a family affair, with 3 sisters taking the plunge to raise money for the West Wight Sports Centre.
Sue Bailey, Marianne Hulse and Angela Cross have been training hard for the 1.3 mile swim from Hurst Castle to Colwell Bay, taking place on Sunday 18th August. Sue encouraged her sisters to get involved after taking part in the challenge herself for the last two years. In 2011 she swam the Solent, while last year provided kayaking support.
Both Marianne and Angela now live on the mainland and the 100 length practice swim on 1st June will be the first time they have all swam together for 15 years.
As well as the Sports Centre, the sisters are raising money for the Lord Mayor Treloar College and the Alzhiemer’s Society. Details on how to sponsor them or any of the 70 swimmers can be found on the Wild West Solent Swim website www.solentswim.co.uk.
