Just 2,032 people were claiming the unemployment benefit Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) last month, according to figures released today.
As expected with the Summer season arriving, 253 less people were claiming JSA compared to April of this year. Year on year, a massive 1,088 more residents were in work compared to the 3,210 looking for work in May 2013.
Overall, 2.5% of the Island’s population of working ages is claiming the benefit, 0.9% more compared to the rest of the South East.
