Two well known Island charities are teaming up to raise funds. On 29th September, the West Wight Sports Centre will be holding its popular West Wight Triathlon, and entrants are being encouraged to get themselves sponsored in aid of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
Last year a team from Isle of Wight Radio did just that as they tackled the course which involves a 600m swim, 35km bike ride and 7.5km run. And the team look set do it all over again this year!
The route takes in some of the most scenic views in the West Wight, running along the old railway track to Yarmouth and cycling along the Military Road to Brook.
Clare Griffin, WWSC Manager said:
“The West Wight Triathlon is a great event for those new to triathlons and every year we attract a lot of entrants competing for the first time.
“By getting themselves sponsored as well, it’s a great way to support the fantastic work the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust does with youngsters recovering from cancer and other serious illnesses.”
Wightlink are once again offering discounted fares to entrants travelling from the mainland.
