The offender is described as White, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, of stocky build with brown hair. It is understood the offender was wearing a light coloured t-shirt and blue jeans.

PC Richard Hindle said:

“It is believed that there were people around in the gardens at the time of the incident.

“It is completely unacceptable that someone who felt the need to challenge the behaviour of another was attacked in this way. Considering the nature of the assault the man came away with relatively minor injuries.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information should contact PC Hindle at Ryde police station on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 11.
