A 58-year-old woman remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital just over a week after a motorcycle crash on the outskirts of Whitwell, which tragically claimed the life of a 62-year-old man.
As previously reported by Island Echo, emergency services were called to the scene on Niton Road, near the junction with Southford Lane, shortly before 21:00 on Wednesday 1st July.
A green Kawasaki motorcycle, being ridden by a 62-year-old, collided with a yellow VW Transporter as it exited a bridleway. Tragically, the motorcyclist was killed in the crash and his pillion passenger was left in a life-threatening condition. She was flown directly to Southampton by air ambulance.
The occupants of the VW Transporter, understood to be a woman and her young child, were left shaken and the child sustained a shoulder injury.
Police have confirmed that the pillion passenger remains in a critical but stable condition in Southampton General Hospital. Island Echo understands she has been placed in an induced coma.
