Southern Vectis has introduced extra on-board measures to complement its bus cleaning regimes.
The local operator has installed hand sanitisers for customers to use as they board buses across the Island.
Andrew Wickham, Managing Director of Southern Vectis, says:
“Since the government began easing lockdown, we have seen a steady increase in passengers across our network – and we are thrilled to be welcoming them back.
“Our team is good to go – and so are our buses. We already have stringent cleaning regimes in place – including extra focus on touch touch-points with anti-viral wipes. But we are are giving our operation the ‘belt and braces’ treatment, by also adding hand sanitisers.
“It’s about ensuring people know they can travel on our buses with confidence and, with demand for our services rising, we are pleased with the response we are seeing here.”
Southern Vectis recently received the industry-standard mark ‘We’re Good to Go’ – which recognises its efforts to implement cleaning and social distancing measures for staff and customers during the coronavirus crisis. The standard is issued by Visit Britain to confirm businesses are ready to encourage visitors.
Andrew adds:
“We are of course keen to help people visit the many wonderful shopping and tourist locations that we are blessed with here on the Isle of Wight, but our services are used extensively by those who live and work here too – and we’re delighted to be welcoming them on-board.”

Well thank you sv but it would of been better if you had supplied this before when you were asking people to wear masks but better late than never x
If you was that concerned you would have your own, and on the recording it did say use asap, as to face masks it was the government who said, not what sv said. They are and have been doing a good job.
It would be nice if more drivers took notice of HOW people are wearing their face coverings and felt able to say something to the (many) who just cover their mouth and have their nose poking over the top. I’ve lost count of the amount of people on the no 3 route, which I regularly use, who travel like this, with nothing said by the driver. ‘Makes you wonder why ANY of us bother complying.
Only now??!!bit bloody late keep bringing these things in tbf. Bit behind vectis.
Masks were a thing and gel is a thing everywhere.if you have your own gel helps obv if you can find decent ones for a decent price obv.lets hope its well attached on bus ir itll get nicked by some scally .
