UPDATED: Firefighters are this afternoon (Saturday) in attendance at Yarmouth Harbour following reports of a fire on board a boat.
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team are on the scene alongside two fire crews, after being tasked to the incident shortly after 13:00.
Yarmouth RNLI’s all weather lifeboat has launched and has left the harbour, responding to the reports of an engine fire.
UPDATE @ 13:55 – Two pumping appliances, one from Newport and one from Yarmouth Fire Station, are in attendance at the quayside alongside Police and paramedics.
Yarmouth lifeboat has successfully towed the diving charter vessel ‘Wight Spirit’ into the harbour. It has been ascertained that there was no direct fire on board, however an overheated engine was causing concern due to the gas cylinders present.
The situation is under control.
