Only 4 of Saturday’s games involving Isle of Wight sides survived Storm Eunice.
All 3 Wessex League games fell victim to the weather: Newport’s game against Whitchurch United was called off on Friday, East Cowes Vics’ match away to Laverstock & Ford was postponed early on Saturday morning, and the Yachtsmen made a pointless journey across the Solent to Bashley only for the referee to decide the conditions were unplayable an hour or so before kick-off.
In the Isle of Wight League, no games were played in Division 1. In Division 2, not only did Wroxall brave hurricane force winds and torrential rain at Clatterford Road Rec, they also lost 14-0 to Carisbrooke United. In Combination 2, AFC Wootton Reserves had a miserable afternoon, losing 0-6 at home to Vectis Reserves.
In the Junior ‘A’ Cup, congratulations to Adgestone and East Cowes Sports, who battled their way against the elements to reach the semi-finals of the competition.
