As a result of increased demand for cross-Solent travel, Wightlink has announced more services on its Portsmouth-Fishbourne and Lymington-Yarmouth routes.
With tourists flocking to the garden Isle for their summer break, Wightlink have taken the decision to add an extra 3 round trips on each of their car ferry routes.
Keith Greenfield, CEO of Wightlink, says:
“The Isle of Wight is going to be a very popular destination this summer.
“We look forward to welcoming more customers on their way to a memorable holiday on our beautiful Island. However, as capacity on board has been reduced to allow social distancing, you must book your place in advance, whether you’re bringing a vehicle or travelling as a foot passenger.”
The additional sailings include:
• Portsmouth-Fishbourne: There will be 3 extra round-trip sailings on Fridays in August and on Monday 10th August
• Lymington-Yarmouth: There will also be 3 extra round-trip sailings throughout the week from Monday 10th August to Monday 31st August

Makes a change from last year when they were cancelled many times due to an unspecified piece of equipment failure.
There were little signs of social distancing yesterday when we drove along Shanklin esplanade. In fact a couple of the kiosks selling food along the front had tables outside and they certainly wasn’t one metre apart.
good – bored of this government micromanaging of peoples lives – they need to FO and get on with returning the country to normality – if you want social distancing – stay indoors

I tell you the ferries are chock a bloc we are going to another wave of this virus god help us
Totally wrong, cash before lives, perhaps the tourist board slogan should read “ARE YOU DYING TO VISIT THE ISLE OF WIGHT, VISIT NOW BEFORE THE ISLAND IS LOCKED DOWN”
karn – get a grip will you – I bet you are not personally being financially disadvantaged by this situation – there are many that are – we have a right to make lives for ourselves – if you are worried, stay in your house
A stupid and narrow minded comment, twat
