policetapeMini owners on the Isle of Wight are being warned to be vigilant following a series of fuel thefts across the island.

The first incident occurred overnight between Thursday 25th April and Friday 26th April in Somerset Road, Ryde. The owner of a black Mini Cooper reported petrol siphoned from their vehicle and the petrol cap had been stolen.

A few nights later, between Saturday 27th April and Sunday 28th April another attempt occurred in Seaview Lane, Seaview, after an owner reported someone had tried to steal fuel and the petrol cap was missing from their red Mini Cooper.

The latest incident occurred between Sunday 5th May and Monday 6th May in Rogerson Close, Cowes.

The owner of a red Mini Mayfair told police that fuel and the petrol cap had been taken whilst the vehicle had been parked on the driveway overnight.

Police advise owners when possible to make sure vehicles are left in well lit areas or in a secure driveway or garage.
