A variety of creative fundraising ideas have helped staff at Matalan’s Newport store raise a massive £7,600 for Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Events including a 150-mile in-store run, children’s drawing competition, a onesie day for staff, and a guess-the-number-of-hearts-in-the-jar competition have all helped swell the total – making Newport staff Matalan’s best charity fundraisers in the region into the bargain
Money raised from the events have also been boosted by collecting tins at the check-outs into which generous customers have also been donating their change.
The Matalan management team joined Hospice staff last Friday to present their latest cheque and to announce the final amount raised in a year of activity – £7,670.64.
Katie Radburn, EMH Fundraiser said:
“We are all very impressed and grateful to the Matalan team for raising such an amazing amount of money – from such a wide variety of events – to support patient care at EMH”.
The next big idea is a sponsored wax of manager Taz, who has offered to wax his eyebrows should enough money be donated! If you’re interested in donating or sponsoring the next big idea contact the store on 01983 539770.
