The Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Major General Martin White CB CBE JP, hosts his annual awards tonight (Wednesday).
The event will see military, public service and community achievements recognised and for the first time since its re-introduction in 2012 and directly on behalf of The Queen, the British Empire Medal will be presented to Rosemary Mitchell of East Cowes and Jillie Wheeler of Bembridge.
The evening is an opportunity to highlight the success of Island residents who have demonstrated an outstanding level of commitment to their work, making a valuable difference within the community.
During the evening, the following awards will be presented:
-Deputy Lieutenant Commissions
-Arctic Star
-Merchant Seafarer Medal
-South East Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association Award to Connaught Trust
-Red Cross Badge of Honour for Devoted Service
-Red Cross Voluntary Medical Service Medal
-HM Lord-Lieutenants’ Meritorious Service Certificate
-Isle of Wight Valuable Service Award
-Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary Awards
-Chief Fire Officer’s Commendation
-Support for Britain’s Reservists and Employers (SaBRE) Awards
-British Empire Medal
Badges will also be presented to three young people as they are inaugurated as the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets. These are Cadet Sergeant Buyant-Ukhaa Brouwer of Isle of Wight Squadron, Corporal Chloe Remnant, Unit 2 Troop at Ryde Army Cadet Force and Leading Cadet Rowan Wanstall of Ryde Sea Cadets.
