Nottingham-based Auction Estates has secured the sale of 3 parcels of land totalling just over 2.9 acres off Military Road in Atherfield for over £1,000,000.
Having previously offered the sites for sale with local agents, the UK based seller wanted the sale to be conducted by Public Auction to ensure both a quick sale and that the maximum sale price was achieved.
The 29 acres were offered as 3 plots, namely The Bungalow site at 5.82 acres and with a Guide Price of £350,000+. The main site, with planning consent for 63 lodges was offered at a Guide Price of £650,000+ and the final parcel was 9.94 acres offered at £125,000+.
The bungalow site was sold to a UK based couple who plan to relocate to the island and build their dream home with the land being enjoyed by their horses.
The 2 remaining sites have been purchased by a London-based investment company whose plans for the 23.5 acre site are as yet unknown.
Paul Giles of Auction Estates commented:
“We were delighted to be instructed by our long standing client to sell his land on the Isle of Wight, especially after several deals on the open market had proved abortive. Both sales were concluded in a matter of weeks and being offered on auction contracts, the sales were documented on unconditional contracts and with completions in September.”
The 2 sites remaining ..I will put me weeks pension on the becoming a housing development

Funny enough so do I as I have a member of family been there since the late 60’s. Lives up in the hills of Perth. Perth as you would know doesn’t qualify as on the coast it’s inland up the Swan River. When cruise liners go to Western Australia they go to the port of Fremantle. Passengers then disembark to get to Perth if required. The first time I went there was the first time I’ve ever seen black swans. Did you get a chance to take in an Aussie Rules Footie game? Amazing game. Have a nice day cobber.

The ”green back’, is mightier than the ‘green belt’ where a corrupt developer / council combine. I expect the council will be ‘tickled Pink’
Why buy the plot of land they going to ruin the beautiful views of the island and if they r building houses on that land where r the job’s coming from

A couple of modern tower blocks 50 floors high with a spectacular penthouse each.
The views would be tremendous.
And with that tonnage on the site it should slip gracefully in the sea soon after completion.
Well that’s the end of TT next few years as the road will be closed for the work to be carried out

Keep the noisy, smelly, trashy rubbish where similar ‘traits’ in areas where the people watching such live.
Building should never be allowed there, but this council is so clearly corrupt it is disgusting.

JHVF, I initially thought that too.
Then soon realised it was likely yet another piece of creative accountancy by our council for some dubious fiscal gain reason.
Half of it will be in the sea by the time they have finished building on it 🙂
Any comments from Mr Sausage Seely? Surely it will affect him as the site is along the south?
