33-year-old Hannah Louise Bourdon has been charged with failing to prevent the causing of unnecessary suffering to an animal.
Police say that the charge comes following allegations of animal cruelty against Bourdon, of no fixed abode. She has been charged under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Ms Bourdon will also appear in court charged with assault by beating following an incident in Regent Street, Shanklin on 7th October. It’s alleged that a woman in her 20s was assaulted.
Bourdon has been bailed to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 3rd November.
The dog is currently in the custody of Hampshire Constabulary having been taken into the force’s possession by response officers and the South Wight Neighbourhood Team.

Another sad and disgusting low life that thinks the whole world revolves around it and resorts to violence when others do not do what it wants immediately.
Scumbag
Go Vegan humans to stop abuse and exploitation of animals on daily basis.!
And animals eating other animals? What about that then?
She was homeless and the dog was with her
Karma. I hope that what went around, comes around. What an absolutely nasty person. I hope the dog is ok and finds a loving new home.
This young woman was living rough with her dog at the back of my property approximately 6 months ago. I contacted the Homeless Team at IW Council twice as I was concerned for her & the dog’s welfare & they said they did not know who she was. I made enquiries in the local community & was informed that she was well known as ‘Homeless Hannah’ & I was advised, for safety reasons, not to approach her. I then contacted the Police as I was concerned for my children but they never got back to me………
Homeless aren’t scumbags? Have a word with yourselves you dimlo’s
