To celebrate creativity and showcase the Island, the Red Funnel Isle of Wight Digital Literary Festival is inviting local writers and poets to share views of the Island that either inspire them or feature in their writing for possible inclusion in the digital event.
Over the centuries many famous scribes have made the Island their base including Alfred Lord Tennyson, Winston Churchill, Charles Dickens, John Keats, J B Priestly, Enid Blyton, Anthony Minghella and literary festival vice patron, Alan Titchmarsh.
This year, festival organisers are asking local writers to share the aspect of the Island that inspire their work in a short video. It could be the Island’s fantastic coastal scenery, rich woodlands, wonderful historic castles and ruins, picturesque villages and towns, or local communities, groups and activities. Write on the Wight asks ‘What makes the Island so special for writers and book lovers?’.
A collection of videos will be curated and played during the digital festival (9th-11th October 2020). Everyone who submits a video will be entered in a prize draw featuring car journeys from title sponsor Red Funnel and book tokens from Medina Bookshop. Submissions must be in by Friday 18th September 2020.
