Gordon Osborne MBE, a founder of Ryde Inshore Rescue, has passed away.
Mr Osborne served on the Isle of Wight Merlins Swim Club committee for most of the Club’s existence, as well as being the organiser of the Sandown to Shanklin swim and was heavily involved in a variety of other swimming events.
As well as being one of the founder members of the vital Ryde Inshore Rescue service, Gordon served as a trustee and secretary until his death, giving some 58 years to the charity organisation from when it started as a lifeguard station.
Mr Osborne had suffered with ill health in recent months.
Thoughts go out to his friends and family.
