Jan Fletcher has qualified for the 2023 World Triathlon Championships in Spain by coming 2nd in the Woodhorn Standard Distance Triathlon and GB Age Group World Championships Qualifier in Ashington.
With an unusual late afternoon start time of 16:20 and temperatures in the high 20s, Jan had to make sure she was well fuelled for such a late start with the help of nutritionist Amanda Buggy. She completed the swim in 18:55, coming 8th in the Vet 40-49 category. Jan then posted the 3rd fastest bike split of 1:22:08 to take her up to 3rd position.
Jan posted the 2nd fastest run of 42:42 in the Vet category, giving Jan 10th female position overall, a 3rd place Bronze podium award. She achieved 2nd in the 45-49 category, which gave her an automatic qualification for the GB Age Group Team for the 2023 World Standard Triathlon Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.
