The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is seeking to build and support projects that improve green spaces across the Isle of Wight.
Green spaces are good for wildlife, but they are also vital to our own health and well-being. Our ability to connect with nature through our local environment is now more important than ever, says the Trust.
The Isle of Wight Public Green Spaces Project is inviting residents of Pan, Ventnor, East Cowes, Freshwater and Binstead to take part in some online research. Using an interactive map and questionnaire they are looking to know:
- What green spaces you use and why?
- What areas you don’t use and why?
- What wildlife you have seen?

Build houses… they do everywhere else
IF the UK had not imported half of the third world into its small land mass, then there would be far less housing, as many indigenous people from the mainland move to place like the Island to escape seeing their own towns and villages becoming unrecognisable to them.
Problem being those escaping then add to the number of houses built in the trouble free zones.
As we have more than enough people now, especially as most imported have huge families, there is no need to allow in more now as the jobs market is changing and full employment will likely never occur again now what with hi tech, people working from home, and many traditional jobs will be gone, forever.
So green spaces would NOT have been have been needed, IF the town were forced to merge into one another because we have too large a population now.
Time will only make it worse, never better.
If only housing issues were the end of the harm.
We moved down to avoid such, and many people I know moved away from our town for the same reason. Just no-one can publicly say so nowadays.
