Vectis Youth Under-10s and Under-12s competed at Stamford Bridge in an international cup with teams from as far afield as South America at the weekend.
Vectis Under-10s finished runners up in the Chelsea Cup after impressive victories over SPL Benfica Academy (4-1), FC Marylebone (1-0), and Gosport Borough FC (3-1). Unfortunately, the Island side lost 2-1 in the final to Skills Academy, who have not been defeated all season.
In the final, Vectis pushed their opponents right to the final minute, where they were beaten with the last kick of the game after leading for most of the contest.
Vectis Under-12s beat Bognor Regis Youth 1-0 but suffered defeats against Benfica (2-4) and Elite Academy (3-5). Elite Academy were very difficult opponents for the Under-12s as they are a feeder club for West Ham and Fulham.
