A Newport manufacturing manager has created a free website allowing people to see exactly how their MP has voted in Parliament.
Phillip Bishop, 58, who works as a manufacturing manager at Red Composites in Newport, created the website YourMPRecord to make parliamentary voting records easier to understand and access.
The website allows users to search for any MP and view every vote they have taken part in since the 2024 General Election, using official parliamentary data presented in plain English.
For Isle of Wight residents, that means being able to look up Richard Quigley or Joe Robertson and see how they have voted on issues affecting both the Island and the country.
Rather than ranking politicians or expressing political opinions, the website simply presents each MP’s voting record alongside plain English explanations of what each vote was about.
Phillip built the website largely using AI through Claude Code despite having no previous coding experience.
Building the website involved linking together a number of different online services before everything worked as intended.
Phillip said:
“It was a little bit complicated getting all the sites to connect with each other. I needed to sign up for lots of different accounts, but I completed the build mostly using AI through Claude Code, despite having no coding experience.”
His aim, he explained, was to make it easier for people to understand how their MPs had voted in Parliament and what individual Bills actually meant.
He added:
“The site was an idea to help people see how their MP had voted, both locally and across the country, in a clear and concise way, along with AI information explaining what some of the Bills actually mean. I intend to grow that section.”
YourMPRecord is free to use and covers every MP elected to the House of Commons since the 2024 General Election, with voting records updated using Parliament’s official data.
