The 21st Isle of Wight Lambretta Day Anniversary Weekender will take place at Ryde Pavilion across the Platinum Jubilee weekend next week (4th-5th June).
Lambretta Day was established in 1999 as meet up to launch Lambretta clothing at a local clothes store. The first event was attended by around 20 scooter riders. It has grown into an annual event with over 300+ scooters from local and visiting clubs and solo riders
After the successful 20th Anniversary, Lambretta Day organisers are again running a 2-day event with a scooter ride-out and entertainment throughout the day until late.
Ryde Pavilion Café and Bar will be open all weekend and will host live music throughout the day from noon, followed by even more live music and DJs till midnight.
Sunday’s Ride-Out will be organised by Isle of Wight Scooter Alliance, leaving at 13:00 from a Newport venue to be confirmed.
21st anniversary commissioned trophies will be presented for:
- Best Overall Scooter Vespa or Lambretta
- Best Turned-Out Club Scooter Club
- Best Overall Lambretta Scooter
- Best Vintage Scooter
- Best Individual or Club that has contributed to the Isle of Wight scene in the last year.
Confirmed live acts include Modern Apes, The Dead Perrys, 3 Minute Heroes, The Apple Beatles, Outta Time, X Directory, The Optimists, plus top rally DJs.

What about the rowdy loud noise, the strange pungent smoke aroma, what about the drunkeness and the foul language and the risk of getting maimed?
I guess the scooter riders will be used to all that in Ryde by now!
Only once a year, and good for local economy. I like to see them. What is worse are the people riding bikes with next to no exhaust everyday of the week treating the roads like a race track. Give bikers a bad name.

how is it acceptable for all these scooters to park on the pavements, whereas islanders get fined if they do, at any other time of year.
Why is the air allowed to be polluted to this level in such a small area on the seafront all weekend – what about the residents who live on the esplanade, having to breathe in far worse quality air than normal.
Why do we tolerate this polluting event, when we are all so concerned about air quality and climate change.
It seems that CO2 emission concerns are conveniently ignored for these events. why do we put up with allowing our society to treat the atmosphere like a toilet bowl.
I see Bembridge is now the gang hotspot. West Wight already has the drugs.

So tell me again why cant we have the diamond races (proper bikes, and safely organised)? But this stinking lot is welcomed with open arms? They have no road manners, are a pain in the arse much like they were back in the 60s.
