Calling all farming motorsport fans. Can you help bale out the Isle of Wight Car Club?
In April next year the club will be organising the Island’s first closed road motorsport event, the Sandown Sprint.
Malcolm Smith, Chairman of IWCC, says:
“To build the course the club needs around 320 large straw bales, either round or large rectangular and given the time of the year this will need organising in advance.
“We’re hoping that maybe a number of Island farms might be able to help us out by providing 50 or more bales each – this would be a tremendous help. Obviously we can help with the transport and all the straw will be returned and any damage paid for after the event.
“We know that it’s an awkward time of the year after the winter, which is why we’re asking for help now whilst the straw is still being bailed in fields around the Island.”

No no no wait a minute that CANT be allowed. Whatever next a closed road motorcycle event ….oh wait….
Hope it happens good luck to em.
Ban smoking near them, for our firebrigade are still engaged in putting out some straw in one barn for the foreseeable.
Keep safe and think.
There is an old saying ” be silent and let others believe you to be a fool or speak and show to all your stupidity”
I hope the event works out well. 🙂 Being a holiday destination these kinds of events are a life line for local business, something the NIMBY lot like to ignore.
