Bembridge RNLI launched it’s Inshore Lifeboat this morning (Thursday) to assist a 38ft yacht that had run around near to Bembridge Harbour.
The volunteer crew of Fred Milne, Nick Hawkins, with James Pink at the helm, launched at 06:56 after the unknown yacht ran aground on the edge of the channel when leaving the Harbour with 2 crew on board.
Although well aground on a dropping tide by the time the ILB arrived just five minutes later, the lifeboat’s crew managed to help the yacht get off into deeper water by heeling her over using the yacht’s main halyard.
The ILB was re-housed by 07:30.
