41 boats competed in the Inaugural All-Contessa Regatta that took place at the Royal Solent Yacht Club (RYSC) in Yarmouth between 9th-11th June.
The racing included the Contessa 26 Nationals, the Contessa 28 Nationals and Contessa 32 Points Series.
After 4 weeks of steady easterlies down the Solent, the weather changed hours before the 1st start, creating tantalising conditions for Race Officers and competitors alike. However, everything went ahead as planned with scheduled racing starting on time and close racing throughout the weekend, many boats finishing only a few seconds apart.
Not to be forgotten is 1 Contessa 35, which also joined in the racing, and organisers very much hope to have more of the bigger boats taking part in next year’s regatta; 31st May to 2nd June 2024.
Results: Contessa 26 winner MEOW (Chris Charlesworth), Contessa 28 winner CLOUDY BAY (Stephen Hucklesby), Contessa 32 winner MERAK II (Nick Bradley).
Overall winner of a Louis Jadot Jeroboam was local Yarmouth boat MERAK II (Nick Bradley).
In the Hudleston Bar of the RSYC were photos and memorabilia on display, celebrating the life of Jeremy Rogers, the creator of the much-loved Contessa yachts, who died in October 2022. The RSYC were delighted that Jeremy Rogers’ widow Fiona Rogers presented the prizes on the Sunday.
