Sandown & Shanklin RFC’s 1XV – The Hurricanes – have been recognised as Grassroots Team of the Month for Level 9 – 12 by the sports governing body, the RFU.

The RFU had this to say on the Club:

“An impressive October saw Sandown & Shanklin record another four bonus point victories, to leave them with maximum points from seven games. They only conceded an impressive 20 points across their four games, scoring 232 in the process. November sees them take on the teams either side of them in the league with a visit from Petersfield and a trip to Alton.”

The excellent start to the season that The Hurricanes have managed, playing 7 games and recording 7 victories, will be tested further this month when they play some of the top teams in the league and all attempt to establish themselves as leaders before the Christmas break.

First up will be Petersfield at home on Saturday 9th November. This will be followed up by an away trip to newly promoted and league-leading Alton RFC. Then the last fixture in November will be back at the Fairway, when the Hurricanes welcome old foes Fordingbridge.

A big month ahead, which will certainly dictate who will lead the league and battle for promotion moving towards Christmas and the New Year.
