Work to adjust and resurface the footbridge at Gully Road in Seaview has been completed ahead of schedule.
The popular footpath connecting the Nettlestone estate to Seagrove Bay has now re-opened to pedestrians.
Work was needed because the parapet walls were assessed as not providing enough protection to prevent people falling several metres to the ground below.
Island Roads devised a solution to dig out material from the footway to restore the original levels and, in effect, increase the height of the existing parapet.
The PFI contractor has thanked the local community, including Councillor Reg Barry, for support before and during this project.
The people in seaview. My god when island roads shut the bridge. It was the end of the world to them. Poor residents had to walk a little more to get to the beach.
90% are second homers,they only live there a few weeks of the year .hatefull people .I lived in seaview for a few years .had to move to another part of the island in the end .couldn’t stand it in the summer.as they take over and treat the locals with complete and utter contempt .

WOW, what a clever solution that was – Must have taken numerous consultations to do the obvious!!!
