A free drop-in event is being held in Newport later this month to encourage girls and women to join Girlguiding on the Isle of Wight.
The event will take place on Saturday 24th January at the Parish Centre, Town Lane, Newport, between 11:00-13:00. It is open to girls aged 4-18, their families, and women who may be interested in volunteering with local units.
There are currently more than 500 Girlguiding members on the Isle of Wight, with units operating in most towns and villages. Organisers are keen to welcome new members and volunteers to help existing groups grow and support the creation of new ones.
Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to learn more about Girlguiding, take part in fun activities, and enjoy free refreshments. Parents can find out where there are current vacancies and what involvement in Girlguiding looks like.
Everyone is welcome to attend – even if it’s just to say hello.
Information will also be shared about this year’s World Thinking Day, with a local celebration set to take place on 28th February. More details about that event will be announced in due course.
