Garmin, a leading global provider of smartwatches and GPS-enabled devices, has joined Cowes Week as the Official Weather Sponsor. Garmin will be supporting the event’s official meteorology service throughout the regatta and helping to provide competitors and visitors with regular updates on the current and expected conditions on the water. More detailed information will also be supplied in real time to the race management teams and course setters, helping them to plan the best possible racing for the conditions in different parts of the Solent. Summary and detailed forecasts, together with live wind data, will be available through the official Cowes Week App and on the website at www.cowesweek.co.uk. Commenting on the partnership, Bob Trimble, Chair of Cowes Week Limited, has said:
“We are excited to announce Garmin as the Official Weather Sponsor for 2024. Renowned in the sailing community, Garmin’s navigation equipment is widely used on many boats, and their performance smartwatches are a common sight on crew members’ wrists, making them an ideal partner for our regatta.”
Jon Oliver, Managing Director of Garmin UK and Ireland, adds:
“We’re delighted to be supporting this year’s Cowes Week, the largest sailing regatta of its kind in the world. We know how important accurate weather forecasts are for the sailors and we’re proud to be part of the regatta, which is held on our local coastline.”
