Crews from the town’s own fire station and nearby Newport Fire Station were called to Southbank Road at around 21:20, where it was discovered a garden shed and a hedge had caught fire and were well alight.
It is believed a discarded lighted object could have started the blaze. Crews left the scene by 23:00.
It was a busy night for the retained crew of East Cowes Fire Station, having been called to reports of another garden fire earlier in the evening. Thankfully, it was soon discovered the reported fire in Adelaide Grove was simply a bonfire. Advice was given to the homeowners.
