Former Ryde East Councillor and town mayor, Mr David Knowles, passed away yesterday (Wednesday).
The Liberal Democrat, of Marlborough Road, held his position as local Councillor for a number of years and ran a care home in the community. He had worked within local politics for over 15 years.
Dave was much-loved by electorates and all who knew him, only losing his seat in the last election.
Fellow Councillor and friend Cllr Wayne Whittle said last night:
“He was 100% for Ryde. We fought many fights together as a team, regardless of politics.
“His open and frank honesty and humour will be missed”.
