The Isle of Wight Council have announced that the troubled Cowes Floating Bridge will be undergoing yet more scheduled maintenance on Tuesday (25th June).
Engineers will be working to replace a prow hinge on Floating Bridge No.6, which means the East Cowes to Cowes service will be out of action from 05:00 until late afternoon.
A passenger launch service will be in operation.
Tuesday’s suspension will be at least the 6th time that the service has been brought to a halt due to an issue with the prow. On 9th August and 23rd December last year the service was suspended due to a broken prow hinge, as was the case on 3rd May, 21st May and 11th June this year.
The official floating bridge website boasts that the service carries vehicles, bikes and foot passengers 7 days a week, all year round.
At least I will get home from work quicker with the launch .
