An online family information website, run by the Isle of Wight Council, has been given a makeover to make it easier for families to navigate and find information.
WightChYPS, the latter part of which stands for children and young people services, is a family information directory for the Isle of Wight. It can be accessed by logging on towww.iwight.com/wightchyps.
Known as a ‘FIDy’, it is a comprehensive online information bank of all types of children’s and young people’s services available in a local area. This information includes a broad range of services from providers in voluntary, private and statutory sectors. The information contained on WightChYPS is managed by the council’s Family Information Zone (FIZ) service.
The website has been given a new bright colourful look and made more user friendly. This includes re-designing the homepage to make each section easy to find and utilising a search facility to enable users to narrow the parameters of the information they are looking for.
Popular documents such as the Holiday activity guide and the newsletter for children and young people with additional needs can still be downloaded from the WightChYPS website.
Recently, FIZ also launched its own Facebook page where it posts information for families such as upcoming events and other services available.
Anyone with a Facebook profile can like the page by going to www.facebook.com/iwfiz.
