Wightlink-Wight Mountain Cyclist Ewan Cook competed in a 10-mile TT at Goodwood recently, powering home in 22.40 to take the win in the Junior Men’s race, some 6 minutes ahead of the rider in 2nd place.
Ewan took 23rd place overall out of 75 racers.
Team members Oliver Nolan and Stuart Waite were in action on Wednesday at Alexandra Park, Portsmouth. The 2nd Cat riders just missed out on an early break which saw 6 riders get away and take a lap on the main bunch. At the bell, Oli and Stu put in an attack and powered home to take 7th and 8th place and some vital points towards retaining their 2nd Cat licences.
Oli was in action again on Saturday at the National B Omega circuit race at Alexandra Park looking to take at least 2 points to secure his 2nd Cat licence for 2023. Another fast-paced E/1/2 race with riders attacking the field to take a lap from the off. Oli rode a tactical race and came home with the bunch to finish in the top 20.
On Sunday, Ben Johnson travelled to Kielder Forest in Northumberland to compete in the National MTB Marathon Championships. A really tough course which consisted of 3 x 33km laps with 1000m of climbing per lap and a mixture of technical single track and gravel roads. With temperatures reaching 38 degrees over half the field dropped out of the race due to the heat and the challenging laps, but Ben dug deep and finished 11th in his age group.
