foodbankWith food stocks very low and with the school holidays upon us, the Isle of Wight Foodbank will be in even more demand as families in crisis find it a struggle to feed themselves and their families.  

The Island’s Foodbank is currently feeding 120 people a week, 45% of which are children.  The numbers just keep going up and up with 4 tonnes of food being given out during May alone.

For the remainder of today and tomorrow, the Foodbank team will be at Tesco Extra in Ryde collecting donations, with the superstore having pledged to top-up the donations by 30% on top of the total amount of food donated by you, the very generous Islanders.

All donated food stays on the Island going to those in sudden crisis.

This is part of a joint venture between the Trussel Trust and Tesco nationally supporting their local food banks up and down the country. Tesco are the first national supermarket to partner with food banks.
