Due to forecasted severe adverse weather, and in order to ensure the safety of all athletes, staff, spectators and guests, Cowes SailGP will not proceed with racing tomorrow (Saturday 10th August), it has been announced.
Experts say winds will be reaching gale force and a yellow weather warning for strong winds has been issued by the IW Met Service.
Christy Cahill, Chief Communications Officer for the event, says:
“We look forward to showcasing SailGP’s European debut on Sunday, with racing starting at 3 p.m. local. time. We are currently exploring options to further maximize Sunday’s programme and fan experience.”
For members of the public who have purchased tickets there will be refunds issued per the Cowes SailGP Ticket Refund Policy.
Due to the weather conditions, all sailing for the start of Cowes Week is also cancelled for Saturday.
