As the numbers of people throughout the UK who are being diagnosed with Skin Cancer increase, the Wessex Cancer Trust Support Centre in Newport are set to bring awareness of this the Isle of Wight.
The first Isle of Wight Wear a Hat Day will be held next month on Friday 18th July where all schools, colleges, clubs and workplaces on the Island will be invited to take part.
The event was recently launched at The King Lud in Ryde.
Students, Teachers, Members of the Public, Employees and Employers will be encouraged to wear a hat, whether it be a cap, a bowler hat or even a funny fancy dress hat for the day in return for a small payment of £1 which will go towards supporting the charity’s work in providing non-clinical help to all Island Cancer patients, their families and carers.
Anyone that wishes to take part is asked to contact the Wessex Cancer Trust support centre in Lugley Street, Newport for information on how to register. A registration pack will be sent out which will need to be returned by Friday 11th July.
