Burger King have submitted a planning application to the local Council to install signage for their first Isle of Wight fast food outlet.
The opening of the most anticipated takeaway on the Island seems to be getting closer, although an opening date is yet to be set.
Burger King will be opening at the Cineworld Complex on Furrlongs, Newport.
Work has been taking place over the past few weeks after permission was granted for the conversion work on the former Office Outlet building back in August.
The planning permission seeks the go ahead for the installation of signage consisting of: drive thru height restrictor, illuminated canopy, triple menu board, illuminated bun logo, building pay/collect projector sign; illuminated bun logo signs x 4, drive thru arrows x 2, illuminated fascia sign and window manifestations.
‘The Gym’ is also set to open at the Newport complex, generating a total of 56 new jobs across the 2 new businesses – both a mix of part-time and full-time positions.

That took a hell of a long time… I remember the first Mac. in Newport back in the 80’s (i was one of the first employies there) ..
Finished work at the Butchers (Chatwins ) and straight to my second job at the time.
Well the food ain’t to bad better then some of the Supermarket fast foods..
More fast food outlets, am sure there will be space left for another bookies, coffee shop and charity shop as Newport could do with more NOT
it’ll be nice to have some (IMHO better) alternative to McD’s
BTW, I’m not unhealthy, junk food eating, fantasy world watching,….
I do like to watch films sometimes & I do like the occasional burger (and when I do, I prefer BK to McD’s)
