BURGER KING PLANS APPROVED BUT NO OPENING DATE SET

Published at:

The Isle of Wight’s very first Burger King has been given the green light by the Isle of Wight Council’s planning committee.

Islanders will soon be able to order a Big Whopper at the Coppins Bridge complex in the heart of Newport, although no opening date has been set as of yet.

Burger King will be established in part of the former Staples/Office Outlet building with a drive-thru installed in what is currently a service yard.

Council officials have also given the go-ahead of a 24-hour gym at the same complex. Under the newly-approved plans, 2 further retail units can be created to coexist alongside Burger King, The Gym Group, Pizza Hut and Cineworld.

56 new jobs are to be created by the opening of the 2 new businesses – both a mix of part-time and full-time positions.

Island Echo approached representatives of Otium Real Estate last Friday, but a statement is yet to be received.
