On Friday evening (11th February), the 90s Liverpool-based Britpop icons Space played a lively set before an enthusiastic audience at Strings, Newport.
Space have sold over 5 million records worldwide with album titles including “Spiders, “Tin Planet”, “Suburban Rock and Roll”, and “Attack of the Mutant 50ft Kebab”. Their albums Spiders and Tin Planet were both awarded double platinum disc status. The band’s most recent album, “Music for Pleasure Music for Pain”, was released in 2021.
Lead singer Tommy Scott put on an eccentric and energetic performance, climbing the rafters of the venue to sing to spectators on the upstairs balcony.
After the event, Claydon Connor co-owner of Strings said:
“It’s great to have an act like Space stop by the island as part of their UK tour. My aim is to bring as many top touring acts as I can to the venue this year, and Space really didn’t disappoint. A proper band with really high energy and a lust for performing live”.
