Medina Bookshop in Cowes will host best-selling author Louise Voss who will give a talk on How to Get Published on Tuesday (24th May).
Having released 14 titles over her 20-year writing career, Louise has had books out through most publishing models, from deals with major traditional publishing houses (Transworld and Harper Collins), to digital-only (Amazon-owned Thomas & Mercer), and self-publishing.
Salisbury-based author Louise has written in many styles – psychological thrillers, police procedurals, and contemporary fiction – several written with co-author Mark Edwards. Their book, Catch your Death, was the first novel by independent authors to reach Number 1 on Amazon back in 2011. Her latest thriller, His Other Woman, was published in July of last year on both sides of the Atlantic to rave reviews.
Medina Bookshop manager Paul Armfield says:
“The Island is such a hotbed of literary talent, barely a day goes by without a customer revealing to me that they’ve written a book. Invariably they ask for advice on how to get published.
“It’s such a difficult question to answer, but we hope that by creating opportunities such as this, we can provide practical support and guidance and hopefully inspiration.
“Who knows? There might be several potential best-selling authors in the audience on the 24th, just needing that little nudge in the right direction.”
The evening presentation will take the form of an informal conversation with shop manager Paul Armfield, and there will be plenty of opportunity for the audience to ask their own questions.
Tickets are £6 from Medina Bookshop on Cowes High Street or or from www.medinabookshop.com. The talk on 24th May starts at 19:00.
