31-year-old Benjamin William Entwistle will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court tomorrow (Tuesday) charged with numerous offences relating to a serious crash on Briddlesford Road in June, as well as offences committed elsewhere.
Becky Wall, 28, from Ryde, was seriously injured in the collision on Thursday 27th June. She sustained life-threatening injuries when her Vauxhall Astra was hit by a silver BMW at the junction with Blacklands Lane.
Mr Entwistle was charged with a number of offences including causing serious injury by dangerous driving. However, there was a temporary postponement of proceedings last month.
Now, the 31-year-old has been charged with driving whilst disqualified, using a motor vehicle without insurance, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident in relation to the crash on 27th June. He has also been charged with driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance on Gunwharf Road, Portsmouth on 24th June and again on Albany road, Newport on 26th June.
Ben Entwistle will appear before magistrates in Newport tomorrow via video link from HMP Isle of Wight.
What’s the point.what has he to worry about.
he has to worry about the length of time that he is deprived of his right to freedom of movement, the length of time that he is deprived of his right to self determination and the length of time he will be told what to wear, when to eat, when to shower
and who he will have the ability to associate with.
Then there is the fact that he will be seen as a social pariah and no longer able to live on the island when he is eventually released, for fear of retribution.
whether he has a conscience or not, the mental and emotional consequences of what he has done, will cast a long shadow over his life for longer than he gets locked up for. His life has changed for the worse and there isn’t a thing he can do about it
and he still has the guilt to deal with one day, however, long that takes, only he will know.
If you google his name, you realise than none of what you have written is in his mindset and nor will he care.
Do you know for sure that he has the capacity for any empathy for the fellow human whose life he has changed for ever. He must have known the driver of the other car was seriously injured but still left the scene and the only reason to do that was because he was thinking of him own wants an needs above that of anybody else. Perhaps a bit of time inside will mature him, who knows…
Do you know this man ? He had spent half half his life in prison!! He has no remorse for anything he has done. He gets out and few weeks later he’s back in again. 22weeks is nothing too him especially where he’s already served most of that probably and will get half for good behaviour. Prison is nothing to him ! He won’t feel guilty and it won’t cast a shadow over his life at all. He’s got off pretty much Scot free. He’s served longer sentences before! This man has no care in the world! He is scum and should of got longer sentence! They may have banned him from driving for 5 years but you honestly think that’s going to stop him from getting behind a wheel again. It’s not. You are all stupid if you think his life has changed and the guilt will catch up with him ! This is Ben entwitsle! Nothing will ever change !!!

do not think that Ben Entwistle has any control over the shadow that his past casts over him, because he doesn’t. His actions, have altered the course of his life and changed it, whether he likes it or not. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t care. His decision not to care will ensure that the road he travels throughout his life will be full of disappointment and misery.
Guilt is within him already, weighing him down like lead weights on a an old divers boots. Doesn’t matter if he ignores the guilt, it is still there waiting to be addressed. Until then he will continue to remain in the gutter, with the rest of the shite, being washed down the drain of life, whether he likes it or not.
He has no control over any of this and in many years to come, assuming he is stll alive, the guilt will have eaten him up and left him a tired, weak and useless individual.
You’ve clearly never met him. He gives no cares. He is a plague.
He will have no guilt, he’s been in Prison on and of, not done any good has it, he will be back on the road ban or no ban, just like the day this accident happen.
Surely, a custodial? He should be locked up for public and his own safety, not that he wad too concerned about others!
He’s already in custody and likely to remain there. If a custodial sentence was not appropriate, he would have been released on bail etc.
