Bembridge Fort will welcome families for a day of live music, entertainment, food and activities next month.
One of the Isle of Wight’s most intriguing historic landmarks is set to throw open its gates for a family open day on Sunday 7th June.
The event, taking place at Bembridge Fort on Culver Down between 11:00 and 16:00, will feature live music, hands-on activities, entertainment, classic vehicles and food, all while raising money for the fort’s ongoing restoration.
Families can look forward to craft workshops hosted by the New Carnival Company, with award-winning performer AJ Entertainer — named UK Entertainer of the Year — leading the family entertainment.
There will also be live performances from Boogie Woogie Bluebirds, Sambambo Jazz Band, local duo Sunny & Blue and DJ Omar.
Visitors will be able to explore a display of military vehicles and classic cars, including vintage jeeps, a traditional tea van and exhibits from a local vintage car club.
Weather permitting, model hot air balloons will also take to the skies above the fort.
Food and drink will be provided by The Events Co, with street food and sweet treats on offer, while the Magazine Theatre & Bar will provide a place to relax.
Guided tours of Bembridge Fort will be available in limited numbers at £20 per ticket, with visitors advised to pre-book.
Open day tickets are priced at £6 for adults, with children under 12 going free.
All proceeds will go directly towards the restoration and preservation of Bembridge Fort.
Tickets can be booked online at ticketsource.com/bembridgefort.

I hope the organizers will ensure people take their rubbish home!!!
WHY, has it taken so long to open up this money making fort? This could have been done as a music venue among other things as far back as the 1960s.It seems that there are not many business people with imaginations on the island. So sad.
