Super-fast fibre broadband has arrived in Birmingham Road and York Avenue in Cowes, Morton Road in Sandown, Albert Road in Shanklin and Spring Hill in Ventnor, BT announced today.
More than 1,300 homes and businesses in these areas now have access to the high-speed technology.
The latest expansion means that BT’s £2.5 billion roll-out of fibre broadband in the UK has already made the technology available to more than 37,000 Isle of Wight premises. And by the end of Spring next year this figure is expected to have reached more than 50,000.
A high-tech BT showcase vehicle will be visiting the Isle of Wight next week to demonstrate fibre broadband and the huge benefits it offers to local residents and businesses.
The vehicle will be available on:
- Tuesday 10th September between 09:00 and 18:00 in the Town Square next to Anglesea Street, Ryde (Co-op).
- Wednesday 11th September between 09:00 and 18:00 in St Marys Road Car Park, Francki Place, Cowes.
- Thursday 12th September between 09: and 18:00 in St James Square, Newport.
