Over 5000 Island residents are to be accommodated at a new dental centre in East Cowes.
The walk-in practice has now opened at East Cowes Medical Centre in Church Path, allowing patients to make an appointment online through the website www.hampshireandwightdental.co.uk. A telephone number will soon be available.
Natalie Jones, Head of dental services commissioning and contracting for the local PCT cluster said: “We’re really pleased to be introducing this new service in East Cowes.
“It will provide routine and urgent care to patients on an appointment or on-the-day basis, between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday, with hours extended to 8pm one evening per week.
“This model of care has already proved successful in Basingstoke, Fareham, Farnborough and Winchester, as it provides patients with more flexible ways to receive NHS dental care.”
NHS dental treatment prices will be changing from 1st April:
Band 1 — £18.00 covering an examination, diagnosis, including X-rays, advice on how to prevent future problems, a scale and polish if needed, and application of fluoride varnish or fissure sealant.
Band 2 — £49.00 covering everything listed in Band 1 above, plus any further treatment such as fillings, root canal work or removal of teeth.
Band 3 — £214 covering everything listed in Bands 1 and 2 above, plus crowns, dentures and bridges.
