Bembridge RNLI were tasked to assist a 22ft angling boat yesterday afternoon (Saturday) having just about completed a demonstration of the lifeboat’s abilities to members of the public.
The Albert Alfred Williams All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) was carrying out a demonstration with Coastguard Rescue 104 Helicopter, in support of the lifeboat station’s annual open day, when it was tasked to assist a 22ft inboard engined angling boat with three crew onboard that had a rope around its prop just south of the Bembridge Ledge.
The boat was towed into Bembridge Harbour as the closest safe haven by the ALB.
Bembridge’s lifeboat was re-housed by 17:30 ready for its next tasking.
