Former Isle of Wight man Robert Howart Duncan, who sexually abused 2 children, has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars.
Duncan, of Chapel Walk in Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex but previously of Gurnard, near Cowes, first appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 13th April last year facing a total of 4 historic charges; assault of a child under 13 by penetration, attempted rape of a child under 13 and 2 counts of non-penetrative sexual activity with a child.
The 61-year-old pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him and the case went to trial at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.
The court heard how Duncan, who previously worked for 2 local undertakers, had sexually abused the 2 underage girls – with 1 of them suffering at the hands of the paedophile for a 6-year period. The youngest victim was just 8-years-old, with the offences taking place between 1999 and 2015.
On 21st March, a jury found him guilty on 3 counts but not guilty of the attempted rape. The case was sent to Portsmouth Crown Court for sentencing.
Appearing in the dock last Friday, Robert Duncan was sentenced to a total of 12 years behind bars and 1 year on licence. The judge also ordered him to sign on as a registered sex offender indefinitely and also made him subject to a sexual harm prevention order for an indefinite period.
It was decided that Duncan must serve a minimum of 8 years behind bars before he can apply for parole – meaning he will be behind bars until at least 2030.

And what will happen after the 8 years? He will still be a predator if released, something more needs to be done with the people that find abusing children a sexual kick. If and when he is released warnings to area he moves to needs to be given, as leopards never change their spots.

Make the Isle of Wight great again bring back the guillotine to Newport, make the IOW a safe place for children to live in again, these poor children will be mentally scarred for life by this.
I can only hope he suffers and maybe kills himself before he is allowed out which he shouldn’t ever be allowed to be let out my heart goes out to the girls who were brave enough to go through what they have to get some justice but they will never be able to get over what happend just hope they become stronger together and help each overcome as its them who have the life sentence .

Is it the first time he has been caught, because you can almost guarantee that there will be other girls out there that this deviant abused. He may have been caught and jailed, but what other secrets is he keeping in that cell with him.
People like him don’t just simply decide to do those sorts of things – he has probably got a long history of this sort of offence, after all at 61 years old, suddenly exposed – yeah right – probably been at it for nearly 50 years.
