21-year-old Catherine Whittaker has been jailed for a total of 4 years for attacking a man with a razor blade back in January of this year.
Whittaker, of Sandown Road in Shanklin, previously admitted wounding with intent following the slashing in Ryde on 20th January. She also admitted possession of a bladed article in a public place and assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty when she appeared before the Isle of Wight Crown Court in February.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police and Ambulance crews were called to the vicinity of Ryde High Street at around 21:30 after concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman – now known to be Catherine Whittaker. She is said to have been wiping blood on cars and shouting ‘I hate men’.
In an act of goodwill, the male victim approached Whittaker to offer any assistance but he was assaulted with a razor blade.
The casualty was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital where he later received over 30 stitches to his face.
Judge Robert Linford handed down a sentence of 4 years at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.
