Police stopped and seized a vehicle which was being driven by a disqualified driver in Chale overnight.
Officers on a nightly patrol directed the vehicle to pull over to the side of the road in the rural South Wight village.
Roadside checks found that the vehicle held no valid tax or insurance – enough for the Vauxhall to be seized on the spot.
Further checks soon discovered that the driver, who was heading home after a spot of fishing, is disqualified from driving. He has now been reported for the offence.
The vehicle was recovered by a local agent.

Well done another one bites the dust
Crush time!
Theres something fishy about this story!!!! To be PICKED UP at that hour in the dark someone must have told.
I agree he was in the wrong but what’s unusual is the time and remote place at that hour.
yep – the driver had clearly upset someone who decided to patiently wait until the clown got in his car to go night fishing. Then they called police, provided details and then sat back and waited for the results of their efforts to roll in. I suspect the caller is probably sipping a glass of champagne to a job well done, whilst sporting a smug grin.
moral of the story – do not drive a car with no licence, no insurance and no tax, whilst being a complete bell end to your neighbours.
You’re not wrong you sir, win the internet today
Sorry. I missed out the critical ‘full stop’, after the word ‘wrong’.
When you drive illegally you have to be lucky all of the time, The police only have to be lucky once. No conspiracy here.
And assuming the cop car has ANPR…. you only have to pass it going the other way and you’re a gonner….
Well the DVLA requires cars to be Taxed or SORNED – so if the registered owner of the known NOT-taxed/NOT-SORNed car was paid a visit BEFORE driving around all over the island without insurance, would that have prevented the situation???????
Well, yes I think it would. The DVLA make very clear via Freedom Of Information Request that they do zero enforcement on IoW regarding not-taxed cars.
I know one vehicle that has not been taxed for three years consecutively – let alone MOT/Insurance. Used daily and even ticketed on public roads for parking offences.
Perhaps a little more proactive work by the public department who take your money for tax would solve a lot of this.
Great news, the more caught the better if the vehicle is the drivers then charge them to crush it!!!
Never seen police out here or knew they did patrol so quite surprised! I had an uninsured and untaxed driver go into me who was abusive and caused £400 damage to car. Police weren’t interested.
Then complain to the IPCC…
Whats the betting the driver is not working, otherwise would not be up late, has several ‘kids’ scattered around, and ‘does’ a bit of gear and is known for all the wrong reasons in his neighbourhood.
Many would likely ‘cheer’ if he were in the vehicle IF it were crushed.
Haha i know who it is aswell he deserves it the twat
disqualified drivers should be banned for life. Two strikes and you are out!
