Vehicles being driven on the Island’s roads without valid tax, MOTs or insurance policies were stopped during a crackdown operation yesterday (Wednesday).
Local Police joined the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA) and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) in Yarmouth and Newport in a bid to identify and stop those driving illegally.
A total of 9 vehicles were found to be driving without tax, with others found to have no valid MOT certificate. A number of cars were also found to have no insurance cover in place.
Officers also checked for defects such as faulty lights and exhaust systems.

DVLA have a list of these vehicles that are not taxed. Popping round to the registered owner would be a good job. Or enforcing the alleged ‘automatic fines’ dished out. THAT would be a good job. Then police could deal with actual policing.
Exactly. When they stopped tax discs we were told”nobody will get away with it now it’s all automated “. What a joke! More people seem to get away with it now . There are at least 3 down my road that are untaxed, no mot and no matter how many times you report it nothing gets done. Why should we all pay ours when loads don’t bother?
Excellent news! Keep these low-lives off the road! Why should my premiums continue to rise because of people like this! If you can’t afford to tax and insure a vehicle, DON’T BLOODY WELL USE ONE! get the bus!
Shame they do nothing about the ones reported numerous times.
