A report that a male aboard a yacht in the Solent was having suspected heart attack led to Cowes lifeboat being put on alert shortly before midday today (Friday).
The yacht, the 37ft Femme Fatale, contacted Solent Coastguard while in Osborne Bay near to Osborne House, East Cowes. They radioed that a 45-year-old male was complaining of chest pains and a tingling in one arm.
Although Cowes lifeboat was made ready to go to the scene, it was eventually stood down after the yacht reported it was making for Trinity Landing on Cowes Parade under its own power.
Lifeboat members quickly made their way on foot to the landing for Graham Creigh and Patrick Moreton to provide basic First Aid support pending the arrival of paramedics. The man was then conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport, for further treatment and investigation.
